Google Maps on JetBlue and with transit information
I’m trying to make up for not posting anything while I was in Canada by posting twice today and by doing an extensive write-up on the Grand Prix, which will be coming soon (I hope).
I’ve mentioned how Google Maps and Google Earth have transformed the way I prepare for trips and how much I wish that portable GPS units would feature similar software. One of the things that helped me plan the Canada trip was the ability to see the location of mass transit terminals in relation to other addresses. This information is not always obvious by looking at the transit system maps and schedules available online from the various transit authorities. The Google Lat Long Blog is reporting that Google maps users can now click on the transit stop icons to get more information such as departure times and which lines serve a particular station.
Additionally, Google Maps is now available on JetBlue signature seat back TVs. This means that, even if you haven’t done your homework prior to the trip, you can now take advantage of the time spent in the air to figure out which train or bus to take once on the ground.
